China continues its active participation in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC). At the 10th APEC Leaders’ Informal Meeting in October 2002 at Los Cabos, Mexico, President Jiang Zemin put forward goals of common development to advance member nations’ capability of participating in and benefiting from the global economy. The APEC meeting adopted the Los Cabos Statement on Fighting Terrorism and Promoting Growth, in which member countries committed to taking a series of concrete steps that will protect and make more efficient the flows of trade, finance, and information.
