By Nov. 2, a total of 44 countries and international organizations including Germany, Singapore, Thailand, and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, have confirmed in written form to attend the 2019 Beijing International Horticultural Exposition.
The expo is the highest level international horticultural exposition hosted by the Chinese government and undertaken by the Beijing Municipal Government. It will take place from April 29 to Oct. 7, 2019.
In addition to the 44 countries and organizations confirmed to attend, 26, including the U.K. and the Netherlands, have announced that they will participate in the expo. Further, the expo's authorities are making progress in inviting more domestic and foreign participants, including 14 countries of the Pacific Islands Forum, 15 countries of the Caribbean Community and seven countries in Central America, to carry out joint exhibitions.
As preparation continues, officials in charge of the expo disclosed its first series of gardening exhibition plans of the Chinese provinces and cities at an expert review meeting on Nov. 2.
The exhibition plans showcased featured landscape miniatures of the beautiful natural scenery in different areas, landscape architecture built and managed using new materials and technology, and the unique charm of the nature and customs of China's ethnic minorities.
So far, progress on landscape engineering and infrastructure projects, such as the water and electricity facilities, have reached 50 percent, according to officials of the expo. The construction of supporting infrastructure like the Xingyan Express and highways are also being accelerated. Preparation is complete for building the international and domestic gardens at the expo, and construction work is awaiting approval by relevant authorities.
