Beijing Static Traffic Investment and Operation Company was jointly established on Nov. 5 by four of Beijing’s city-level state-owned enterprises. By setting up an information platform of static traffic resources, the new company is expected to help solve the capital’s longtime parking problems through better utilizing existing resources, adding more parking spaces as well as improving parking management. The new company will deploy “internet plus” smart systems, construct new parking facilities, and optimize the distribution of parking resources.

According to the Beijing Municipal Commission of Trans-port, the demand for new parking spots was up to 1.29 million by the end of 2016. Meanwhile, Beijing’s existing parking re-sources are unevenly located.

The four state-owned enterprises -- the founding members of the new parking company -- will contribute their experiences in various aspects such as smart parking system development, mechanic parking system, and parking lot administration.

An official from Beijing’s State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission said that by strengthening smart travel and smart parking, the city will accelerate the pace of building itself into a livable world-class city.
