The 19th China International High-tech Achievement Fair opened on Nov. 16 in Shenzhen. Beijing's science and technology delegation, composed of the Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission and the Management Committee of Zhongguancun, took part in the fair to present the science and tech achievements of the Chinese capital. From January to September this year, Beijing added 217 new science and technology enterprises per day, and the turnover of technology-related contracts increased by 19 percent year-on-year, according to the delegates.

Some of the highlights at the exhibition area of Beijing include a surveillance system with facial recognition, the DOBBY pocket drone, the RootCloud industrial network platform, the satellite for dark matter particle exploration, the dynamic test platform for two-way high-speed trains, the T333 unmanned coaxial rotor helicopter and the Cambrian 1A processor -- the world's first deep learning processor for commercial use.

Beijing is currently home to 16,000 national high-tech enterprises, 488,000 scientific-technological enterprises, 306 listed companies, 1,611 companies listed on the New Three Board market, and 20 national demonstration bases.

The city's scientific research output ranks the first among 500 cities around the world, according to a report published by the British journal Nature this year.
