A total of 100 pandas made from bamboo, created by Danish artist Josh Yick, are on display during the exhibition, which runs until Sunday. It aims to raise public awareness of environmental protection. After Shanghai, the exhibition will tour another 31 cities in China. It is estimated that about 1,600 pandas live in the wild in China. By the end of last year, the number of captive-bred giant pandas around the world was 376. China saw 49 panda cubs born last year, with 42 surviving, a record for giant panda breeding.
