A 3-year-old wild panda was found seriously injured, with its intestines exposed, in a nature reserve in Sichuan on Nov. 17. Experts speculated that it had been attacked by a group of yellow-throated martens. The panda was sent to the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding for further treatment on Nov. 20. Five days later, the panda died after emergency treatment failed. An autopsy report showed that the panda died from intestinal necrosis, septicemia, serious liver damage and severe malnutrition.
