Record-setting snow hits Hokkaido

An extremely heavy snow has battered Shiretoko Peninsula in eastern Hokkaido, Japan, a local media reported on Tuesday. The accumulation of snow has reached up to 179 cm as of Feb. 2, it said. Japan Meteorological Agency said it was the worst snowfall on record since 2005. [Photo/CRI]
