Flamingos turn Bogoria into a pink lake

Tens of thousands of flamingos are seen on the shore line of Lake Bogoria in northwest Kenya. These flamingos stretch for miles around the edge of the lake, turning the shoreline into a bright pink tapestry. These birds gather near lakes in Kenya to feed on the abundant blue-green algae that thrive in the warm alkaline waters. They usually travel at a high speed from lake to lake looking for shrimp and algae for food. The numbers fluctuate greatly as they move from lake to lake and a highest number can hit 1.5 million at a time. [Photo/CRI]
