Shanghai set this summer's record high temperature on Tuesday as the Asian financial hub was smothered in heat for 10 straight days.
Shanghai Meteorological Service recorded a reading of 39.2 celsius degrees at a weather station in Xujiahui Tuesday afternoon, the commercial center of south Shanghai.
The city has been under constant heat in the last ten days, with highest temperatures all exceeding 35 celsius degrees.
The heat is forecast to persist in the next two days, according to Shanghai Meteorological Service.
A super typhoon is expected to move across East China Sea later this week and cool Shanghai with rain.
