An aftershock of 5.5 magnitude was felt in Nepalese Capital Kathmandu and many districts of the Central Nepal at 10 p.m. local time on Friday night.

The epicentre of the aftershock was Sindhupalchowk of the Himalayan country bordering China, the National Seismological Centre said in Kathmandu.

The aftershock forced many local residents to come out of their houses onto open grounds and roads who had already gone to bed. No casualties have been reported so far, according to officials.

This was one of the strong aftershocks felt in Nepal after the 7.9 magnitude jolted the country on April 25 last year which claimed around 10,000 lives, leaving thousands injured.
