  The first UN Climate Change Conference was held in held on February 12-23 1979 in Geneva and sponsored by the WMO.
• 1990
  IPCC First Assessment Report Released.
• 1992
  United Nations adopted the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in New York on May 9 1992.
• 1995
  The first Conference of Parties (COP), was held in Bonn, Germany in 1995. IPCC Second Assessment Report Released at the same year.
• 1997
  COP3 took place in Kyoto and adopted the landmark Kyoto Protocol in December 1997.
• 2001
  IPCC Third Assessment Report released in 2001.
• 2007
  The COP developed a 2-year Bali road map to achieve an agreement in Copenhagen.IPCC Fourth Assessment Report. COP 13 took place in Bali.
• 2009
  COP15 took place in Copenhagen on Dec. 7-18 2009 and reached Copenhagen Accord.
• 2010
  COP16 was held in Cancun, Mexico on Nov. 29 to Dec. 10 2010 and signed Cancun Agreements.
• 2011
  COP17 was held in Durban, South Africa from Nov. 28 to Dec. 9.
