Eight nominees will not become members of the Standing Committee of
the 10th National People's Congress (NPC), China's top legislature,
in a 167-159 multi-candidate election, according to methods of
election and appointment adopted Monday morning at the third
plenary meeting of the current NPC session.
The incoming NPC Standing Committee will consist of one chairman,
14 vice-chairpersons, one secretary-general, and 159 members.
