"I am very lucky to be twice elected to the National People's
Congress (NPC). It shows the people of Hubei's trust in me," deputy
Dai Lili said as vice chairman of the people's congress standing
committee of Yichang, Hubei Province, at the on-going session of
the 10th National People's Congress.
Dai said she prepared 16 proposals for the NPC and most were about
the Three Gorges Project and its migrants. She said that the
project lies in Yichang and the building of it is their
responsibility. Yichang and the whole Hubei Province fulfilled
their task of the relocation of its residents successfully, and in
so doing, promoted the project's move forward.
In
order to help the new migrants to settle comfortably, she proposed
the setting up of a fund for them. She developed projects entitled
"Bringing Maoping River Basin to the National Project of Prevention
and Treatment of Water Pollution in the Three Gorges Area" and
"Bringing 19 Cities and Towns in the Three Gorges Area in Western
Development."
According to her, the Three Gorges Project provides Yichang City
with plenty of electricity, enabling it to make itself attractive
to large-scale industrial electricity needs. She added that if the
city could do this, its economy would really prosper. This could
even promote a transfer of industry from east to west and the
creation of a western development. Her proposal is entitled, "Make
Yichang a Direct Electrical Supply City."
To
work out her excellent proposals, Dai started her preparation in
middle January when she worked on the ground to get the real facts
from the people it mattered too. She said that at last being
re-elected to the NPC is a symbol of people's trust but also puts
the pressure on her. She hopes to bring the people of Hubei's
achievements to the NPC and return with the country and the Party's
guiding spirit.
