Spain's Martinez/Fernandez Win Olympic Men's Sailing 49er Gold

Spain's Iker Martinez and Xavier Fernandez won the Olympic gold medal in the men's sailing 49er at the Athens Olympics on Thursday.

Martinez/Fernandez, who had already secured the gold before Thursday's last race, tallied a winning score of 67 points.

Rodion Luka and George Leonchuk of Ukraine, who ranked number two in the world, finished top in race 16 on Thursday and were the runner-up overall with 70 points.

British pair Chris Draper and Simon Hiscocks took the bronze with 75 points.
