China aims to help an additional 9 million urban people find
jobs and keep the registered urban unemployment rate below 4.6
percent in 2006, a senior government official said in Beijing on
Tuesday.
Tian Chengping, minister of Labor and Social Security, also said
at a national conference that China had overfulfilled the
employment target of 2005.
"About 9.35 million urban residents found jobs in the first 11
months, which accounts for 104 percent of the annual employment
target," said Tian.
