Adjust font size:

China will hold a social security forum to provide an authoritative and high-end platform for communication to address the social security issue in China.

Scheduled in September, the forum aims to aggregate, develop and share social security resources, Dai Guangyi, deputy director of the social security center of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, told a news conference in Beijing on Monday.

The forum will focus on social security theory study, raising social security awareness, publicizing social security policies, tackling major problems in this area and promoting international cooperation.

Dai said that although China has made great achievement in its social security, many problems still exist in the age of globalization, urbanization and an aging population. That's the reason why this forum will be jointly held by more than 20 departments, he said.

According to the ministry, the forum will hold a conference annually, publish an anthology of theses on social security, set up an expert team and launch a website.

This year's theme of the forum is "social security and a harmonious society," which will discuss improvement of urban social security system, medical security, social security for migrant workers. The forum's website www.cnss.cn will be launched for trial operation on April 4.
