Global cooperation against SARS is an important task, and China
supports cooperation with German scientists to strengthen efforts
fighting the disease, says Chinese State Councilor Chen Zhili.
Chen spoke during a meeting on Thursday with a group of German and
Chinese scientists attending a seminar on severe acute respiratory
syndrome (SARS). Scientists exchanged their views on the epidemic
and future cooperation during the two-day seminar.
The epidemic had posed a severe challenge to humankind, and the
Chinese government had taken a series of decisive measures, making
progress in prevention and treatment work, she said.
SARS was still a relatively unknown virus, and science and
technology would be the final recourse to defeat the disease, said
Chen.
