The Japanese Chamber of Commerce inChina and the Beijing Japanese
Society donated 890,000 yuan (about107,748 US dollars) to Beijing
Friday in support of its anti-SARS fight, according to the Japanese
Embassy in China.
The donations went to the Beijing government, the
Sino-JapaneseFriendship Hospital and a non-governmental
organization which helps train women and girl drop-outs in China's
rural areas.
Part of the donations, mostly from Japanese enterprises in China
and Japanese citizens living in Beijing, will be used to popularize
anti-SARS knowledge in rural areas, said an official from the
Japanese Embassy.
