Delegations of South Korea and the US to the fourth round of six-party talks held a bilateral meeting in Beijing Monday morning and exchanged views on solutions to the Korean Peninsula nuclear issue, said an official with the South Korean delegation on condition of anonymity.  

The South Korean delegation briefed the US side of the result of talks between delegations of South and North Korea held Sunday in Beijing, the South Korean official said.

 

The South Korean and US delegations exchanged views on how to achieve substantial results in the new round of six-party talks and on what agreement might be reached in the talks.

 

The meeting between South Korea and the US was aimed at pushing forward for a consensus in the talks that will begin tomorrow morning, said the South Korean official, who refused to give any detail about the meeting.

 

He also revealed that delegations of South Korea and Japan would meet early Monday afternoon.

 

The South Korean delegation, headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Song Min-soon, arrived in Beijing Saturday morning, and the US delegation, led by US Assistant Secretary of State Christopher Hill, arrived Sunday afternoon.
