The first round of judging for the “Huludao Xingcheng Cup” swimsuit design competition was held in Xingcheng, Liaoning Province on July 31. A total of 30 swimwear design entries were nominated for the garment structure design competition, and 24 designs were nominated for the apparel fabric design competition.

The nominees were chosen from over 400 design entries submitted from professional designers, college teachers and students, and swimsuit design lovers, covering 52 colleges and enterprises in 20 provinces and regions in China, including Taiwan and Hong Kong. All the entries in the competition are original works.

Judges for the first appraisal include Hui Liantao, professor of the Textile Art Design Department of the Luxun Academy of Fine Arts, Yu Zezheng, one of the Best 10 Designers of China and chairperson of the Dalian Bihai Garment Co. Ltd, Pan Li, president of the School of Fashion at Dalian Polytechnic University, Wang Chong, deputy-director of the Liaoning Garment Association, and Zhong Xingguo, chief designer at the HuLudao Derong ( Group ) Garment Co. Ltd.

According to Yu Zezheng, the competition is expected to help attract talent to develop Xincheng’s budding swimsuit industry.

The nominated designers will be invited to Xingcheng to discuss further production of their designs. All 400 design entries will be collected by the Xingcheng Swimsuit Culture Museum for future consideration.
