China has made remarkable achievements in the field of tax
collection in 2005 that had scaled a new height, and more effort
should be made to step up supervision over tax collection, continue
tax reform and improve both quality and efficiency of national tax
work in 2006.
Chinese Premier Wen
Jiabao made the remarks when writing comments about China's tax
collection work.
The task for China's tax collection work remains arduous and
heavy this year, and the national tax collection departments should
make full use of the taxing means in adjusting economy and income
distribution, so as to safeguard the stable and rapid growth of tax
revenue, he said.
China posted a record high of 3.0866 trillion yuan (US$386
billion) in tax revenues, excluding tariffs and agricultural tax in
2005, up 20 percent year on year.
