Members of China's top advisory body on Friday were urged to be
fully aware of the importance of building new countryside and
improving innovation ability.
Fulfillment of the two tasks will help enhance comprehensive
national power and ensure China an invulnerable position in global
competition, said Jia Qinglin, chairman of the National Committee
of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference
(CPPCC).
They are also important to sustain rapid economic and social
development and to build an all-round well-off society, said Jia at
a just concluded meeting convened by the Standing Committee of
CPPCC National Committee.
"We should rely on the concept of scientific development to
balance rural and urban development and to improve the ability of
innovating industrial technologies," said Jia, also member of the
Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party
of China (CPC) Central Committee.
Jia also attended a workshop on Friday to encourage advisory
bodies of various levels to make better suggestions for the
country's diplomatic work.
