Hu Calls for Sound Style in Party-building Theory Study

Hu Jintao, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), said in Beijing on Friday that Party building theorists should adhere to the practical style of linking theory with reality, to substantially enhance the Party building theory study.

Addressing a group of representatives of the Party's theory researchers, Hu, also president of China, said that given that the Party and the whole nation are working hard for the building of a well-off society and pushing forward the process of socialist modernization, the CPC must enhance the construction of its governance capability and moral and intellectual superiority.

"To that end, we must step up the Party building theory study in a way that is in line with the new historical conditions and historical tasks the CPC is facing," said Hu.

Fresh experiences during the Party building process should be carefully summarized and helpful practices of foreign political parties be studied and borrowed to enrich and develop the CPC's governance theories, he said.

He expressed the hope that the Party theorists could focus their study on the "scientific view of development," the enhancement of the Party's governance capability, the ongoing education campaign aimed at helping all Party members maintain their "advanced nature," and the building of a "harmonious socialist society."

"I hope you will adhere to the guidance of Deng Xiaoping Theory and the important thought of 'Three Represent's,' fully implement the 'scientific view of development,' and make still greater contribution to the building of the Party," he said.
