East China's Zhejiang Province began the publication of a
monthly report on air and water quality on Sunday, the provincial
Environmental Protection Administration said.
In a report released on the fifth day of every month,
environmental protection experts will explain the changes in
indices of air and water quality to the public, sources from the
administration said.
The report will allow the public to supervise activities of
factories with pollutant emission and other relevant institutions,
the sources said.
The report includes air quality in Hangzhou, capital of the
province, and other key cities such asNingbo, Taizhou and Wenzhou.
Water quality indicies in key rivers such as Qiantangjiang,
Beijing-Hangzhou Canal, Shaoxi Valley and Xiaoshao Canal will also
be published monthly.
Water quality in rivers, lakes and reservoirs in Zhejiang
Province was generally better in 2005 than that of the previous
year, according to a recent report from the provincial
administration.
