To achieve both growth and transformation, the zone is steadfast in advancing the green upgrade of industries, encouraging enterprises to adopt advanced environmental protection and low-carbon technologies, as well as upgrading traditional methods. In recent years, industries in the zone have shifted from traditional manufacturing to intelligent and green manufacturing. Currently, the zone is home to over 500 enterprises specializing in new energy, energy conservation, and environmental protection.
While adjusting its industrial structure, the zone has implemented energy-saving and carbon-reduction measures, transforming energy use in key sectors, and supporting the establishment of vehicle depots and rooftop photovoltaic stations. In 2023, with an average annual increase in industrial added value exceeding 8.5%, the zone achieved a 3.7% annual reduction in carbon emission intensity, surpassing the average for Anhui province.
In March this year, the Hefei high-tech carbon cloud platform, a comprehensive carbon service platform jointly developed by the zone's Management Committee and Hefei Power Supply Company, was launched. The platform serves six purposes including carbon assessment, carbon account, carbon governance, carbon verification, carbon finance, and carbon trading. It provides precise monitoring of carbon emissions and carbon credit ratings for pilot enterprises within the zone. By the end of April, the platform had issued 60 carbon accounting and energy-carbon evaluation reports, formed 64 carbon labels and three carbon identifications across 14 categories, and developed detailed carbon profiles for enterprises. It has also supported government departments in advancing emission reduction efforts.
