Hefei high-tech zone propels future-oriented industries

In 2023, the output value of strategic emerging industries in Hefei increased by 11.1% year on year, accounting for 54.7% of the total value of industrial enterprises above the designated size. Six industrial enterprises in the city each exceeded 10 billion yuan in output last year, bringing the total number of such enterprises to 22.
A pioneer of Hefei's sci-tech innovation and industrial upgrading, the Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone has attached great importance to sci-tech revolution and industrial transformation, accelerated the large-scale deployment of future-oriented industries, and achieved significant results in this regard.

In 2009, QuantumCTek, an enterprise in commercialized quantum information technology, was launched in the Hefei high-tech zone, leading Anhui's development in quantum industry. Over the past 15 years, the zone has given all efforts to quantum technology and the quantum industry based on high-end innovative platforms such as the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) and the National Laboratory for Quantum Sciences, and become a world-class industrial park in quantum communication, quantum computing, and quantum precision measurement.
The zone is home to more than 60 quantum technology companies, ranking first in the country. According to the newly released Global Future-Oriented Industry Index Report, Hefei stands at first in China and second in the world in terms of quantum information.
On March 5, Snow Lake Technology Co. Ltd. decided to establish its life science supercomputer headquarters in the zone. The 300-million-yuan project is aimed at creating a high-performance computing cluster for biomedicine and new material research and development.

At present, the zone is actively fostering its life science industry through carving out competitive advantages in biomedicine, high-end medical equipment, in vitro diagnosis, and synthetic biology. Industry leaders have emerged like Zhifei Longcom Biopharmaceutica, Precedo, and CAS Ion Medical and Technical Devices.
In the past few years, the zone has made progress and breakthroughs in sci-tech innovation, relying on several national platforms including national laboratories, the national science center, and the USTC Silicon Valley. Looking forward, the zone will accelerate achievement commercialization and integrated development, further fostering new quality productive forces.
