The Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone has prioritized the task to promote women's role in sci-tech.
In March, the zone launched an initiative for women's federations in new types of economic and social organizations and among groups in new forms of employment across Anhui province, aiming to enhance the quality and efficiency of women's involvement.
The zone's Women's Federation offers benefits for female employees, such as educational discounts, parent-child study tours, and housekeeping services. It advocates for improved regulations to protect female employees' rights, collaborates with district courts to optimize the business environment, and supports women's employment and entrepreneurship through various measures.
Last March, the zone introduced the province's first policy to support female sci-tech talents, focusing on their cultivation and roles in emerging industries. In 2023, 165,500 women were employed within the zone, representing 30.1% of the total, with women comprising over 40% in key sectors like biomedicine and culture. Currently, the zone has established nearly 1,000 women's federations in new types of economic and social organizations and among groups in new forms of employment.
For families of high-level and industrial professionals, as well as female employees, the Women's Federation has developed study programs for children to explore Hefei's scientific innovation sites. Up to now, over 20 popular science activities have benefited nearly 1,000 families.
