The Deep Space Industry Collaborative Innovation Alliance was recently established at the first Deep Space Industry Forum held in the Hefei National High-Tech Industry Development Zone, Anhui province.
The formation of the alliance is a vivid example of the efforts of the Hefei high-tech zone to develop high-tech enterprises and platforms, especially in emerging fields and future-oriented industries such as quantum technology, artificial intelligence, and aerospace information.
In 2009, QuantumCTek, an enterprise specializing in commercialized quantum information technology, was launched in the Hefei high-tech zone. This made the zone one of the first industrial parks in China to promote the industrialization of quantum technology.
At present, the zone is home to more than 60 quantum technology companies, among the most in the country. As a national pilot project of future-oriented industrial zone on quantum information, the zone has made great efforts to develop quantum technology and the quantum industry.
In 2013, China Speech Valley, an emerging AI hub, was set up in the zone. Since then, more than 2,000 software and hardware products have been developed in the area, and over 100 first-of-their-kind major equipment and software have been launched. Products such as smart offices and smart healthcare have captured a 70% domestic market share.
The zone is now taking a leadership role in researching AI, backed by top-tier institutions including the Hefei Comprehensive National Science Center and the National Engineering Laboratory for Brain-Inspired Intelligence Technology and Application, as well as leading enterprises such as iFlytek.
In February 2022, Deep Space Exploration Laboratory was established in the zone by the China National Space Administration, Anhui province, and the University of Science and Technology of China.
The zone has looked to the aerospace industry and related industrial chains in recent years. It has focused on three fields — satellite manufacturing, satellite launch and operation, and satellite application — while expanding the development of deep space and low altitude flights.
Currently, the zone has gathered more than 120 enterprises in the aerospace industry, and has been designated as one of the most popular industrial parks for the commercial aerospace sector in the country. It led and participated in the launches of Chaohu-1, Mozi, Hefei High-tech No.1, and other satellites, and has fostered several constellation projects like the AIRSAT constellation.
