A Malaysian state's move to send 57 schoolboys with "effeminate tendencies" to a boot camp aimed at counseling them on masculine behavior has angered rights groups in the Southeast Asian country, Reuters reports.

The schoolboys, aged 13 to 17 and living in northeastern Malaysia, were selected for the boot camp for displaying "some feminine characteristics".

The four-day camp, which ended Thursday, included religious lectures, visiting local mosques and aerobics workouts.

"Corrective boot camps to 'fix' children and individuals must not be condoned because it violates the rights of people who are perceived as 'different'," a coalition of gender equality groups said in a statement.

The country's Women, Family and Community Development Minister Shahrizat Abdul Jalil has called for such camps, of which this was the first known example in Malaysia, to be abolished. （点击路透社网站查看原文）

马来西亚“伪娘”受训引争议

        据路透社报道，马来西亚某州日前将57名有所谓“女性化倾向”的男学生送入营地训练，以重拾阳刚之气，此举激怒了这一东南亚国家的多家人权组织。

       这些13-17岁的学生来自马来西亚东北部，由于表现出过多的女性化倾向，被选中受训。

       为期四天的训练已于周四结束，内容包括宗教课、拜访当地清真寺以及体能训练。

       马来西亚妇女、家庭及社会发展部部长沙赫里扎特·阿卜杜勒·贾利勒表示，这是马来西亚首次出现此类训练营，要予以废止。
