The "China Keywords" program is a multi-language, multimedia platform for analyzing and explaining essential expressions used to describe the developmental theories and pathways, external and internal policies as well as the cultures and philosophies of contemporary China. It provides a useful and innovative way to build bridges between political dialogue systems in China and abroad.

The program was initiated by the China International Publishing Group (CIPG) and the China Academy of Translation and implemented by the Translators Association of China and the International Communication Research Center at CIPG. A number of experts from the central authorities were responsible for the original compilation of Chinese terms, while a committee of experienced translators in multiple languages and a group of foreign editors compiled translations and explications.

The first phase of the program, available in Chinese, English, French, Russian, Arabic, Spanish and Japanese, is categorized into five sections: highlights from the Reports of the 18th CPC National Congress, the Decision of the 3rd Plenary Session of the 18th CPC Central Committee, the Government Report made at the National People's Congress and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference in 2014, a series of speeches made by President Xi Jinping and important documents written by the new leaders of the CPC Central Committee. The later phases are expected to provide updates on more recent documents in a wider range of languages. The program will be published in a series of multi-language web pages compiled on the new "China Key Words" portal (http://www.china.org.cn/chinese/china_key_words/) inside www.china.org.cn and on micro communication platforms such as WeChat.

The program is aimed at informing political parties and leaders, think tanks, media and research institutes all over the world. It will also provide references to Chinese publicity bureaus, foreign affairs offices, embassies and consulates.
