Pollution Prevention and Control
A sound eco-environment is critical to China's development. It is a priority issue affecting people's wellbeing and essential to building a beautiful China.
At its 19th National Congress, the CPC announced its determination to fight pollution. In June 2018, the central authorities issued guidelines and made overall plans on environmental protection and pollution control. At its fifth plenary session in October 2020, the 19th CPC Central Committee reiterated the need to continue pollution control. In November 2021, the central authorities issued another document on the fight against pollution, establishing the principle of taking targeted measures and science-based approaches in accordance with the law. China will coordinate pollution control and environmental protection, respond to climate change, keep its skies blue, its waters clear and its lands pollution-free by applying higher standards, and promote high-quality development with high-standard protection for a better life.
China's steadfast fight against pollution displays the determination of the central leadership with Xi Jinping at the core as regards eco-environmental protection and conservation, and embodies the CPC's strategic resolution to build a beautiful China with harmony between humanity and nature. It also responds to the people's desire for a better life after attaining moderate prosperity.
污染防治攻坚战
良好生态环境是实现中华民族永续发展的内在要求，是增进民生福祉的优先领域，也是建设美丽中国的重要基础。中共十九大明确提出坚决打好污染防治攻坚战。2018年6月，中共中央、国务院印发《关于全面加强生态环境保护 坚决打好污染防治攻坚战的意见》，对打好污染防治攻坚战作出全面部署。2020年10月，中共十九届五中全会进一步提出深入打好污染防治攻坚战。2021年11月，中共中央、国务院印发《关于深入打好污染防治攻坚战的意见》，明确以精准治污、科学治污、依法治污为工作方针，统筹污染治理、生态保护、应对气候变化，以更高标准打好蓝天、碧水、净土保卫战，以高水平保护推动高质量发展、创造高品质生活。
污染防治攻坚战从“十三五”时期的“坚决打好”到“十四五”时期的“深入打好”，体现了以习近平同志为核心的中共中央对生态文明建设和生态环境保护一以贯之的高度重视，彰显了中国共产党建设人与自然和谐共生美丽中国的战略定力和坚强决心，积极回应了全面建成小康社会之后人民群众追求更高品质生活的热切期盼。
