"Green Beijing" in the Eyes of Foreign Friends

The "Green Beijing" in the Eyes of Foreign Friends Photo Contest, sponsored by Beijing People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and other governmental organizations, was launched in March 2011. It is a great honour for the Organizing Committee to invite you and your friends to participate in the photo contest and submit your photo works.

I. Rules of the Photo Contest

1. Qualification for the participants: Foreigners of Non-Chinese Nationality

2. Themes of Photos:

(1) Beijing's clear and fresh environment;

(2) Beautiful scenery of the city and its surroundings;

(3) Vigour of the dynamic city;

(4) Harmony between the people and the city;

(5) Activities representing environmentally friendly concepts.

3. Requirements of Photos:

⑴ Photos shall highlight the theme of "Green Beijing;"

⑵ Photos must be realistic and original (no computer-created works);

⑶ Photos must have been taken by the participants themselves.

4. Participation:

⑴ Photos should be submitted with titles, sites where the photos were taken, names of the photographed objects or events, the name of photographer, nationality, occupation, address, post code and telephone or mobile phone number.

⑵ Format Requirements:

Only the digital version is accepted (the size of each photo should be no less than 18MB, that is, the pixel of the digital camera should be no less than 8 million pixels and the photo should be taken in the biggest format).

Ways to submit photos:

Please note "Photos Contest" on the envelope. We identify the date of mailing as indicated by the postmark.

(b) E-mailing the original works which should be realistic depictions of actual scenes or events to: bjeyes@photobtmbeijing.com.

5. Deadline of Submission: October 20, 2011

6. Return of Photos:

Photographers shall bear the responsibility if the digital versions of the works burned onto CD are damaged in the process of posting. The Organizing Committee will do its utmost to store photos submitted carefully. The photos will not be returned to the participants after the contest. However, participants may request the return of their photos and may recover their photos during the period from December 2011 to March 2012. Any photos remaining after March 2012 will be regarded as abandoned.

7. Rights of the Organizing Committee and the Participants

⑴ The Organizing Committee has the right to use the photos submitted for exhibitions and publications.

⑵ Any responsibility involving copyrights, portrait rights and the right of reputation of the photos should be born by the photographer.

⑶ The Organizing Committee of the photo contest reserves the right of ultimate explanation.

II. Evaluation

To encourage the participation of more photos in the contest, the Organizing Committee will invite experts to constitute an evaluation panel. Four hundred excellent photos will be selected in the primary evaluation, among which 50 will be further selected for awards: Grand Prizes, Runners-Up, and Third Place winners.

III. Awards

10,000 yuan each will be given to two Grand Prize winners;

5,000 yuan each for five Runners-Up winners;

3,000 yuan each for 10 Third Place winners;

500 yuan each for 33 winners of an honourable mention.

The award is pre-tax income, and the organizing committee shall deduct the income tax from the total amount according to the rules and regulations of Beijing Municipal Taxation Bureau.
