Turkey's Selimiye Mosque added to World Heritage List

The Selimiye Mosque, an Ottoman mosque, was commissioned by Sultan Selim II and was built by architect Mimar Sinan in the 16th century. It was considered to be one of the highest achievements of Islamic architecture. The Selimiye Mosque and its Social Complex entered the List of World Heritage at the 35th session of UNESCO's World Heritage Committee in June 2011. [Xinhua]
