A resident threatened to burn the house with gas on September, 5, 2011 in Yangji village in Guangzhou's Yuexiu District. The owner of the house, surnamed Yao, was sued after refusing to accept a compensation package for the demolition of her house, which stood on requisitioned land. Yao finally agreed to leave the site peacefully following 2 hours of negotiations on September 6, 2011. The real estate developer agreed not to dismantle the house untill they reach a compensation agreement. A "nail house" is so-called because it is the last house standing on a construction site.[Photo/CFP]
