The ancient meets the artsy this week at a furniture and design exhibition in the China Millennium Monument. The "Landscape of the Spirit: Chinese Design 2011" exhibit, part of Beijing International Design Week, will offer savvy Beijing residents a look at design products, furniture and accessories from Sept. 26 to Oct. 3. The exhibition includes daily items that fill homes and enrich lives. Organizations say it aims to rediscover the beauty of China and the joy of the East. The Chinese designers have created an Eastern garden, returning to Chinese cultural roots, native spirit and the concept of “modest design” that grew naturally from Chinese soil.
