Red Hill Park, situated on Urumqi City's Red Mountain in Xinjiang Autonomous Region provides visitors with a perfect spot to take in panoramic views of the city. A belvedere and a pagoda can be found half way up the mountain. The pagoda was built in the Qing Dynasty, supposedly to ward off an evil dragon. A statue of Lin Zexu (1785-1850), famous for his actions during the Opium Wars, was built here to commemorate the man and his deeds. [Mi Xingang/China.org.cn]
