Bridge collapse accident site in central China

Wrecks of a truck are seen at the accident site after an expressway viaduct collapsed in Mianchi County, Sanmenxia City, about 193 km west of the provincial capital of Zhengzhou in central China's Henan Province, Feb. 1, 2013. The truck's driver Hou Quanlin was injured in the accident and received medical treatment in hospital. Death toll from the expressway viaduct collapse on early Friday has risen to 10, and an initial investigation has indicated that the collapse was caused by an explosion involving a fireworks-laden truck. Eleven other people were also injured in the accident, which occurred around 9:00 a.m. on a 30-meter-high viaduct in Mianchi County, Sanmenxia City, about 193 km west of the provincial capital of Zhengzhou. An 80-meter-long section of the southern lane of the viaduct collapsed after the explosion, according to the rescue headquarters at the scene. (Xinhua/Zhao Peng)
