A bolt of lightning flashes across the sky of Nanning, Guangxi Autonomous Region on March 13, 2013. Around 6 a.m., the first spring thunder hit the skies above Nanning with a bang. A few minutes into the thunderstorm, the Nanning Meteorological Center released a warning for thunder and hail by issuing an orange alert. Around 10 p.m., the instantaneous wind speed reached 9 on the Beaufort wind force scale and rainfall from 10 p.m. to11 p.m. reached up tp 73.2 mm, making March 13 the single wettest day in the month since records began.
