Four female Chinese vice premiers since 1949

Wu Guixian served as China's first female vice premier from January 1975 to March 1978. Wu was born in January 1938 in a worker's family in Henan Province. She served as secretary of the Party committee of the Northwest First Textile Factory and chairwoman of its trade union in 1980. She was elected a Model Worker of the county's textile industry.
