A lingering drought has affected some 4.52 million mu (0.3 million hectares) of farmland in Shaanxi, northwestern China. About 42000 mu now suffer from total crops failure. 63400 people and 11200 cattle have been facing difficulties finding drinking water in the Weibei Highlands and hilly areas of southern Shaanxi Province as of April 7, 2013.
