8,000 sturgeon released into Yangtze

8,000 second-generation artificially-bred Chinese Sturgeon (acipenser sinensis) are released into the Yichang section of the Yangtze River on April 17, 2013. The release, sponsored by the China Three Gorges Corporation and People's Government of Yichang city, was attended by a number of leading domestic and international environmental-protection organizations, including UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization), WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature) and TNC (The Nature Conservancy).
