Journalists who flock to Chengdu to cover the 2013 Fortune Global Forum gather at the event's media center in downtown Chengdu Thursday morning. Chengdu, an energetic growing city in southwestern China that Fortune magazine called a "symbol and reality of the 21st century global economy," followed Shanghai, Hong Kong and Beijing to become the fourth Chinese city to host the prestigious event since it was inaugurated in 1995. Themed "China's New Future" and scheduled for June 6-8, the Chengdu forum brings together over 600 heavyweights from the political, business and academic world. Participants hope to develop long-term success strategies for Chinese and global companies alike as they explore sustainable development, innovation and technology, global finance and economic recovery and the "China century."
