Editor's note: As the Qinghai-Tibet railway opened in 2006, people could travel by train directly from Shanghai to Lhasa, capital of southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region. This year celebrates the seventh anniversary of the Lhasa to Shanghai Railway on October 1, 2013.

From Shanghai to Lhasa, train T164/T165 departs daily from Shanghai Railway Station at 7:28 p.m. and arrives in Lhasa Railway Station on the third day at 7:15 p.m. (4,373km or 47 hours and 47 minutes) [File photo]
