Editor's note:
People in several big Chinese cities in recent years often get leaflets slipped into their hands describing the sea-view rooms of the Silver Beach in China's Shandong Province as "Heaven on earth." As it turns out, this "heaven" feels more like a ghost town without any stirrings of life anywhere in sight.
The sea-view area has only two seasons, off-season and peak season. Peak season refers to the time period between May and October, during which the average occupancy rate is less than 30 percent. When it comes to the off-season, this figure drops below 5 percent. [Photo/Ifeng] |
