Mingde Street is located in downtown Nanning, capital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It faces the Yongjiang River on one side and Zhongshan Road on the other. Since 2008, when the area's large demolition reconstruction project got underway, Zhongshan Road has been turned into a bustling market much favored by locals, while the Mingde Street has been left with rundown buildings, thus becoming a temporary home for many migrant and homeless people.
