Prof. Ye Jiaying recounts glittering life of poetry

Famous scholar and Director of the Institute for Chinese Classical Culture at Nankai University, Professor Ye Jiaying, gave a lecture in Beijing at a special event at the invitation of the China International Publishing Group on April 17.

In the two hour lecture, Professor Ye, who is in her nineties, gave her insights about her poetry from different periods, tracing her eventful life. She shared her reflections and noble perspective on the difficulties of life, and the profound academic achievements and outstanding cultural cultivation of a great poetry master. Her speech received enthusiastic applause from the audience.

Professor Ye has been a professor of National Taiwan University, a visiting professor at Harvard University and the University of Michigan, as well as a lifetime professor of the University of British Columbia and a member of the Central Institute for Literature and History. She is the only fellow of Chinese classical literature at the Royal Society of Canada. She received the award "Glory of China Person of the Year 2013 for Spreading Chinese Culture."
