Eid al-Fitr in the old city

Journalists roamed the streets of Kashgar's ancient city on August 6th, 2013. A baby's cries come from a house with a sign on the door which says there is a civilized family inside. The door of this family's home is still very old compared with the doors on other reconstructed houses. The girl standing there in the white dress is a child of this household and two other children are her friends. Looking in from outside, one can see a baby's cradle hanging there. The Uyghurs generally sculpt cradles for their babies, so this hanging cradle is rare. After learning that the grandmother of this girl is at home, journalists knock on the door and say ‘Asalam allaykum' (the typical Muslims greeting) before being invited into the interior rooms.
