A girl puts lunch boxes onto a steamer at Nongyong Primary School in Bansheng County, south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Dec. 27, 2012. Nongyong Primary School was built in 1964. It is located in Bansheng County, a rural area of karst topography in Guangxi. Its initial school building consists of 12 one-storey houses. In 1990s, a two-storey teaching building and rough dormitory were built. There are about 250 students from all 22 villages of Nongyong. Every Monday, most of them have to walk over hills on their way to the school. In weekdays, about 30 children share seven or eight beds in a small room less than 20 square meters. Their main source of drinking water is recycle of rainwater. However, rough teaching and living facilities did not change their deep desire for knowledge. Investments and donations across the country brought them new dormitory, canteen, bathroom and library. It offered those children a better condition of learning. [Xinhua]
