A photo shoot with Chinese model Yao Xuan wearing Chinese ancient traditional Han costumes and posing at the Wat Rong Khun, better known as the White Temple in Thailand went viral. The model was praised as a "stunning beauty" online both in China and Thailand.

However, the temple’s owner and famous Thai visual artist Chalermchai Kositpipat, who designed and constructed the temple, which first opened in 1997, pointed out that one photo, which showed the girl in a particular posture, was inappropriate according to local religious rules and customs.
