Editor's note: The cheongsam, also known in Mandarin as qipao, is a piece of traditional Chinese women's clothing. There is still controversy over when it was first produced, but the stylish and often tight-fitting cheongsam that is the best known style today was created in the 1920s in Shanghai and has been fashionable and popular among Chinese women since the 1930s. The design of the cheongsam can be bright and colorful, and is suitable for both old and young women. A cheongsam show was recently held at the Wudang Mountain in central China's Hubei Province. The cheongsam beauties added much charm to the mountain, both a famous scenic spot and a holy site of Taoism, one of China's indigenous religions.
